Efferia bryanti with Pentatomidae prey and kleptoparasitic flies

Image:

This image shows a female Efferia bryanti with its prey a Pentatomidae. The Freeloader walks all over the asilid and I believe remains attached even when the Predator flies some distance(at least if it transports its prey.

This population of Efferia bryanti is located between Paradise and Portal in Cochise County AZ.

Michael von Tschirnhaus wrote: "They belong to the Chloropidae, Oscinellinae, possibly the genus Tricimba, as there seem to be three longitudinal impressed furrows on the mesonotum, typical for this genus. But some Conioscinella and Oscinimorpha species also possess (only two) much weaker mesonotum lines."
