Diagnostic description:
Small (1.8–2.2 mm) and stout flies. Lunule broadened, extending well posterior of the antennae to the vicinity of the orbital plate. Interfrontal setae absent. Vibrissal angle present. Gena reduced, about 0.1 times as high as eye. Anepimeron bare. Vein C extending to vein M1, after the wing apex. Surstylus not fused with epandrium (Fig. 4B). Hypandrium higher than epandrium.
